Green Key certification
Holder of the Green Key certification, in the greenery of the Kempen.
Corsendonk Hooge Heyde is a boutique hotel in the greenery of the Kempen and is Green Key certified. Our hotel has been independently assessed and meets the criteria of the Green Key standard. We continuously work to improve our environmental performance, while keeping the comfort you are used to.
The certification
Green Key is an internationally recognised sustainability certification for tourism and leisure businesses, such as hotels, meeting venues and attractions. It is managed internationally by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE); in Belgium it is coordinated by GoodPlanet Belgium.
To obtain and keep the certification, a business must meet strict criteria on energy, water, waste, cleaning, food, green spaces, staff involvement and guest information, among others. The certification is checked regularly, so businesses must keep improving.
The Green Key certification confirms conformity with the Green Key criteria at the time of assessment. For you as a guest, this means the business has been independently assessed on environmental management and corporate social responsibility.
Our approach
Our hotel has 14 electric charging points. The rooms and halls have central air conditioning.
We have installed newer taps, which limit water use.
If you hang your towel on the hook, you simply keep using it. If you leave it on the floor, we replace it.
If you choose to skip room cleaning, we plant a tree in return through Hotels for Trees.
We have removed packaging to reduce food waste, and we actively work on reducing waste.
In our kitchen we focus on local produce.
Wherever possible we receive deliveries in bulk, so less transport is needed.
Online check-in, online check-out and an electronic invoice: no paper needed.
